The outline of this course is designed to grow your understanding of yoga as a whole, touching on the history and philosophy of yoga, breath and meditation, strengthening your asana (postures), safely entering back bends and more. Leaving you feeling safe and supported throughout your journey with yoga.
This insightful 4 week course will help you gain practical tools that will enhance not only your breath and your posture, but your understanding of what Yoga truly is and applying that both on and off your mat.
Each week will begin with a discussion, hand outs will be provided and end by applying what you just learnt into practice with a Yoga Flow. This course is designed to be interactive so there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback.
Week 1: What is Yoga – We will begin to break down some of the key postures in yoga, some of the Sanskrit words that you may hear within a class at Morning Light and delve into some basic history and philosophy of Yoga.
Week 2: Linking the breath with movement – Anatomy of a breath cycle, Pranayama (breathing practices) techniques uses/benefits, Integrating breath with movements in your asana (yoga postures), What is vinyasa and how breath is involved.
Week 3: Meditation and real life application – Meditation debunked, Breath and meditation, Different Meditation techniques, Incorporating meditation into your daily life
Week 4: Heart full Back bending: accessing and deepening back bends safely.
