Who is this course for?
A Childbirth and Motherhood Preparation Course
If you are aiming for a vaginal birth that will leave you feeling positive and empowered and you’re also seeking an easier recovery from birth; both physically and mentally; then this course will give you the hands-on tools and knowledge to help you achieve this.
Combining both ancient and modern birth wisdom; this course makes sure we are preparing the body, the mind and the Nervous System for childbirth: which all play vital roles in allowing physiological birth to progress and you to best manage the physical and emotional intensity of
the childbirth process.
We’ll be deep-diving into physiological childbirth; what can get in the way of it; and the practical steps both you and your birth support person(s) can take to give you the optimal chance at having a vaginal birth of your baby; as well as learning how to adapt for other birth outcomes and interventions that may become necessary; so you still feel positive and empowered about your baby’s arrival, no matter the circumstances.
Best for:
- Women who are interested in seeking a vaginal birth and getting the tools and knowledge to support them in achieving this
- Women who want to dive deeper into preparing themselves for the (re)adaption into Motherhood
- Women who want to better prepare for a range of birth experiences, not just Plan A
- Women that want to provide their birth support person(s) with the tools they need to be able to support, coach and advocate for them in childbirth
BirthWise Course
What we’ll cover:
Understanding physiological birth: what your body and hormones do to allow birth to progress; how this can often be misinterpreted; and what you can do to give yourself the
most optimal chance of allowing birth to continue progressing naturally. We’ll learn all about interventions; when and how to consider using them and how to Birth Map to best support your preferred birth outcome; but also adapt to using interventions when needed; that still means you feel positive and empowered about your childbirth experience
How to prepare your body for birth: focusing on the theory of Optimal Maternal and Fetal Positioning and what you can be doing to encourage and support this for the support of vaginal delivery and more comfort during pregnancy and childbirth. A Yoga-based sequence is taught to you that you can use specifically to support this.
How to manage and integrate pain in childbirth: learning the theory behind why we feel pain and what we can do to therefore change how we feel pain. In the why part of
this course we will take some time to reflect on our own behaviours and beliefs and how these may influence the pain dynamic in childbirth. You’ll learn how your birth support person(s) can provide tailored support based on this. We will then cover a whole range of practical tools you can use during childbirth to better integrate pain; including specific Yoga-based breathing techniques; visualisations; soundwork; energy work; and specific tools for supporting the management of anxiety. We also explore the use of the body from an Active Birth and Physiotherapy lens to better integrate intensity and support OFT; practising specific movements and positions to use in childbirth.
How to navigate physiological birth within the modern medical system: working with your care providers and your birth support person(s) to get a birth outcome that
leaves you feeling positive and empowered; even when it’s a different birth from your ideal birth experience. Why and how Birth Mapping is essential to helping you achieve
this; and what to consider when working through your Birth Map with your care providers; prior to and during childbirth
How to prepare your birth support person(s) in their role for your baby’s birth: a range of hands on, practical tools that they can use to offer physical, emotional and
energetic support to you and also to be able to confidently play the role of advocate and decision maker as and when required.
Course Format
This is a flexi-course meaning you can choose to join for 1 or 2 days, with or without your birth support person present for Day 2.
Day 1 is the pregnant mamas-only day – focussed more on preparing your body and mind for childbirth and the specific tools you can personally use to manage the intensity and changing circumstances of childbirth
Day 2 is more focussed on what your birth support person(s) can be doing to support you; giving them a range of tools to support you during childbirth; as well as deep-diving into understanding the physiology of childbirth, interventions and their considerations; the current
landscape of birthing within the medical system and utilising a Birth Map to support this.

FAQs:
Will I learn tools to specifically manage pain?
Absolutely! And not just one set to suit one type of birth and one type of response to birth. We’ll be deep diving into a range of tools to suit your unique needs and belief systems
When in my pregnancy is best to take this course?
Women have joined the course previously anywhere from 20-39 weeks. Because they work on toning the Nervous System and training yourself to better integrate stress and discomfort it is definitely advantageous to give your body and mind more time for this to really take affect. Also, the work we do on supporting your body for childbirth can take some time to take effect, so again, the more weeks you have been practicing these techniques, the more potent their effect may be. In saying this, if you are 39 weeks pregnant, you will still get so much from the course: it is seismic the difference just the advocacy and birth mapping content can make to a birth, and getting the tools for both you and your support person to be able to use on the day into practice
even a few days before birth can make all the difference.
Does my birth support person have to come?
No; there is take-home material to share with them on all the practices and theory. However – it is always best to be in the room and learning as they can then really try out the tools they learn to support you in birth and also ask questions (the birth support people always end up with the most questions when they start to realise how much their role actually entails and how important it is to your birth outcome!)
Are there split payment options?
Yes. Contact us directly to arrange this. Out of everything you purchase pre-bub arrival this is guaranteed to make the biggest difference in supporting you in your transition into motherhood; so we’d be happy to help you find a payment plan that allows this to be possible.
